What is a Daily Review?
A daily review is a short daily meeting with your team (typically no longer than fifteen minutes) where team members come together outlining yesterdays achievements and what they plan on working on today. Daily reviews should follow a similar and repetitive format covering the same questions each morning. Daily reviews quickly become part of your teams daily routine.
The purpose of the daily review is to align your team so that everyone knows what is happening, what is going well and not so well.
No matter if you run a small team of five or whether you are a multi-national enterprise business with many teams, regular daily reviews will help focus team members and aid collaboration.
Typical Daily Review Questions
The number of questions should be kept to a minimum and should be quick and easy to answer. Here at Teamado we use the following five simple questions in our daily reviews.
1. What did you work on yesterday?
This is a free type text field where team members enter a paragraph or two about the work they did yesterday. They could choose to describe what they completed, what went well and what didn't go so well.
2. Did you complete yesterdays goals?
A simple yes or no question which the team member can tick if they managed to complete everything they set out to do yesterday.
3. What are you working on today?
Another free type field where the team member can outline the tasks they have planned for today.
4. Do you have any blockers?
Here the team member can stipulate if anything is preventing them from progressing with their tasks. Blockers in Teamado are highlighted for easy visibility allowing team leads to easily identify any delays.
5. How are you feeling?
We always end our daily reviews with the simple question "how are you feeling?". Team members can simply click on an emoji to express how they feel. Although this is a simple question, it is also an important one. The emoji's are shown on the check in reports allowing team leads to identify team members who may be feeling stressed and then can offer them further assistance.
