Weekly Update
Huddle

How have your team performed this week? A weekly status update gives you this information and helps you stay on track.

Successful weekly status update meetings

Let's face it, no one likes status meetings where everyone talks about what they are working on and nobody really pay attention. Using a tool such as Teamado to give a written update is far more efficient as your meetings can be shorter, more focussed and therefore more productive.

Feedback is critical to a teams morale. Recognise team members for their hard work by leaving them a comment such as 'Well done John, nice work!'

Theres nothing worse than spending your working days fire fighting. Asking team members if they are experiencing problems in the weekly update enables you to catch issues early before they turn into fires.

When plans are written down and shared its easier to hold everyone accountable for doing what they said they would do. Use a Teamado weekly status update to make sure everyone is working on the right goals.

Typical Weekly Update Questions

The number of questions for status updates should be kept to a minimum and should be quick and easy to answer. Here at Teamado we use the following five simple questions in our weekly update huddles.

1. What have you worked on this week?

This is a free type text field where team members enter a paragraph or two about the tasks they worked on during the week. They could choose to describe what they completed, what went well and what didn't go so well.

2. Did you achieve your goals?

A simple yes or no question which the team member can tick if they managed to complete everything they set out to do this week.

3. Was anything not completed this week?

Team members can briefly summarise anything they did not complete during the week but wanted to.

4. Estimated completion date for work not completed

If work was not completed, team members can put in an estimated date for when this work will be completed. Team Lead's can use this information to asses whether they need to bring in additioanl resources to help out.

5. How are you feeling?

We always end our weekly update Huddle with "how do you feel about this week?". Team members can simply click on an emoji to express how they feel. Although this is a simple question, it is also an important one. The emoji's are shown on the check in reports allowing team leads to identify team members who may be feeling stressed and then can offer them further assistance.
